![]() ![]() Seems less professional and polished than the others. L8 is also mentioned in the Chamsys documentation. Unfortunately it looks like the same dongle situation as Wysiwyg, which puts them out of the running unless we get 2 of the same licence. Not clear if you also need to buy a licence (we would need Architect, or Pro). 1900 euros for the stage module, 40 euro for the usb dongle. Would love some perspective on how the plotting and paperwork is. Seems like it was first and foremost focused on fountains and lasers. Looking at Depence as well because it's mentioned in Chamsys documentation. Expensive (without the Vision visualiser : around usd 2875 without maintenance, usd 670 for maintenance, usd 1620 for a perpetual Vision licence without maintenance, usd 1530 for a yearly subscription where Vision is included, and 2022 seems to be the last year where they are selling a perpetual licence, 2023 will be subscriptions only, so probably very expensive. The visualizer, Vision, is separate and seems to work through a MVR workflow, which means we could also use a different visualiser (though the integration with Vision would probably be the best). I don't think our paperwork needs are such that we need to add Lightwrite. Also seems to be the industry standard, maybe in combination with Lightwrite, in the U.S. I've always had a soft spot for plots made with Vectorworks, which have always seemed the cleanest. Not too expensive (1295 euros for 4 universes, 2195 for unlimited universes, upgrades are 10 to 25% of the full product price) Feel like the plotting would be limiting. Documentation not fantastic, hard to find some basic functions (maybe they exist, maybe they don't, even after spending some time in the documentation). Tried the plotting, it is a bit too basic for our taste, and the interface is deeply weird. Live visualization is great and works really well with Chamsys. Doesn't look like Report would export MVR or even just static viewing in 3d.Ĭan be used on two computers, which is good. Wysiwyg report is too limited to just buy two. Works with a dongle which always has to be in the right place, so is basically eliminated. (usd 5749 + high annual subscription for renewal updates : usd 749 for design, usd 1199 for perform). Something of a standard in parts of Europe. Wysiwyg : plotting and paperwork are fine. We want a good workflow with Chamsys for control We need to do good basic plots, and visualization, but nothing fancy (video walls, lasers, fountains, etc.) There's always somebody who wants somebody else to have a look or tweak something, and the dongle is not at the office, or they're not a the office, etc. We can't use software that only allows 1 computer total, or with a usb dongle, it's too impractical, now that there's more work from home etc. This had led to reconsidering our workflow, and here's where we're at : And MVR seems to be improving, so it would be nice to move to a workflow that supports it. We also noticed the software was less expensive than Wysiwyg. This summer we were asked to work on a virtual stage in Capture, and the visualization was really good. For a few years we've been using Wysiwyg Design, without updating it, for plots, getting a general feel for the plot in 3d, and paperwork, then moving to control with Chamsys, with the built-in visualizer. ![]()
